About Ask Your Library
A nationwide reference service of Czech libraries, free of charge since 2004. We share knowledge, suggest reading and track down sources.
How it works
You submit a question through the form. Depending on the route you pick, we send it to a library with expertise in the field, to a library of your choice, or to librarians who suggest reading. You get the answer by email, usually within 48 hours.
What you can ask
Factual questions, searches for sources and literature, citation checks, reading suggestions, help with research. Librarians answer from verifiable sources and list those sources in the answer.
What we cannot do
The service does not provide legal, medical or tax advice, does not write theses, and does not answer quiz questions.
Archive and personal data
Selected questions and answers are published in the archive so that they serve others too. Personal data of the person asking is removed before publication. Your email is used only to deliver the answer.
Who runs the service
The service is coordinated by the National Library of the Czech Republic together with a network of regional, research and specialised libraries.
